HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT ?
Appointments may be made by telephoning on 01505 863223, or by calling
at the surgery. Routine appointments with the doctor of your choice
may be made well in advance, which will enable us to offer you an
appointment at a time more suitable to your requirements. Each appointment is for one person only. If you cannot
keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible so that
we can offer the appointment to another patient. The practice has
an appointment release system which opens up a limited number of appointments
in two or three days time; these are designed for more urgent problems,
and may not be with the doctor of your choice.
Emergency appointments are available on a daily basis, with the duty doctor If you telephone the surgery
for an emergency appointment, you may be put through to the duty doctor,
or they may phone you back to assess priority.
If you have a serious problem such as severe chest pain or severe
bleeding, call an ambulance (Tel. 999) before calling the surgery.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT ?
Home visits are for those who are housebound or too ill to go out.
Please telephone BEFORE 10.00am when a home visit is necessary. Be
prepared to give our reception staff as much information as possible
to enable the doctor to allocate priority to house calls. Please remember
that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time that
it takes to do a home visit; if you are able to come to the surgery
please try to do. Except in the case of an emergency, house visits
requested AFTER 10.00am may not be made until the following morning.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS?
Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctors discretion
and are normally for patients on long-term treatment. Repeat prescription
request slips should be placed in the letterbox in reception, or can
be posted to the surgery. Prescriptions requested BEFORE 10.00AM will
be available after 4.00pm the same day. Prescriptions requested AFTER
10.00AM will be available after 4.00pm THE NEXT DAY (or Monday, for
prescriptions ordered on a Friday). With the exception of those patients
who are housebound, we are unable to take orders for repeat prescriptions
over the telephone.
If you wish to collect your prescribed medication from any of the
local pharmacies who participate in the collection scheme, this can
be arranged by completing a form. Please ask at reception for details.
If you are on regular repeat medication, you should attend the doctor
at least once a year for a review of your medication.
